Special Ed playground coming to East Moline

Black Hawk Area Special Education District

EAST MOLINE (Bettendorf Growl) —The Black Hawk Area Education Center, also known as The Center, is a school for children with special needs in East Moline that is currently fundraising for a new playground.

The school is designed for about 150 children who benefit from a special school setting ranging in ages three to 22 who suffer from severe physical, emotional, or intellectual disabilities.

The expected cost of the new playground is $255,000, and the school has so far raised $50,000. It is important for the playground to have a safe, rubberized surface, with a fence and appropriate equipment for the students.
