Starting your day the right way

You have probably heard the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do you know why? Starting your day off with a healthy breakfast gives you enough energy to make it through the first part of the day.

With students’ busy schedules or early morning practices, it can be easy to reach for sugary cereals or skip breakfast altogether.

One quick and easy breakfast recipe is Egg in a hole. All you need for this recipe is a slice of your favorite bread, butter, an egg, salt, and pepper. First, cut a hole in the center of your bread and melt butter in a medium-low heated skillet. Next, crack the egg into the hole in the bread. Cook until the egg is settled in the bread, add salt and pepper, and continue flipping the bread until the egg is cooked thoroughly.

A good on-the-go breakfast idea is a cool smoothie. Start by putting yogurt or milk into a blender. Customize your smoothie by adding your favorite fruits like bananas, strawberries, mango, or pineapple. Add granola to the top to add an extra crunch.

Make ahead meals can also save you time in the morning. The night before school, make pancakes from a box mix or recipe here. Freeze pancakes and microwave in the morning. Add your favorite syrup or fruit to the top of your pancakes and enjoy.

Eating breakfast is beneficial to a productive day and is easy to enjoy if you plan ahead.
