Leah Evans is in her third year on the publications staff and first year as yearbook editor and chair of the publications music committee. Outside of publications, she is involved in FCCLA, French club, concert choir, show choir, and theatre. She also has a part time job and used to take dance classes.
Outside of her activities, Evans enjoys hanging out with her friends, going to Dunn Brothers, and watching Netflix.
“I watch a lot of different shows like ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Parks and Recreation,’ and ‘Bojack Horseman.’ Evans said.
Evans joined the class as a sophomore hoping to meet new people around the school.
“I joined publications because I had a lot of fun in journalistic writing, and I wanted to try yearbook along with newspaper,” Evans said. “You get to talk to a lot of different people around the school that you might’ve not gotten to meet otherwise."
Evans’ favorite articles to write are opinion and student voice, specifically “Too cool to care?,” and “Does Mike Wazowski wink or blink?.” All of Evans’ articles can be viewed here.
“I like yearbook because you get to be creative in a different way than newspaper by laying out pages and editing photos,” Evans said.
Evans always gets chocolate chip cookie dough in a waffle cone from Whitey’s, spends many weekends watching musicals on stage or on video, doesn’t know how to ride a bike, and has always wanted a fish named after Burt Bacharach, one of her favorite composers.
Next year, Evans plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to major in Communications.
