Pleasant Valley High School recently opened their new commons area, which also includes a coffee shop called Sparbucks.
The 2009-2010 Pleasant Valley Spartan Assembly Student President, Daniel Witcik started Sparbucks to increase funds for the Student Hunger Drive.
“Due to the Healthy Kids Act, they are only allowed to sell before school begins,” Pleasant Valley High School Principal Mike Zimmer said.
From 7:45 a.m. to 8:05 a.m. the coffee shop will be selling coffee, iced coffee, hot chocolate, and flavored coffees. The coffee bar will open for the cold months, approximately Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day.
“There is the potential for copyright violation and we are in the process of changing the name,” Zimmer said.
The sign “Sparbucks” on the marquee is currently in the process of being changed to Spartan Commons due to potential copyright violation. When the students are using the coffee bar, it will be referred to SparCo.
