Chad Uhde, a fresh face at Bettendorf

A new school year brings fresh faces with not only students, but staff and faculty members as well.

A former instructional coach and athletic director at Bettendorf Middle School, Chad Uhde is now the Dean of Students at the high school. Tasked with dealing with attendance and discipline, Uhde’s job is very different now.

“The whole Bettendorf school district is a good district. The maturity level is different, and the stakes are higher with credits and grades at the high school,” Uhde said.

Uhde stays busy all year with staff and students.

“My first semester here was very busy. Every day was a new chance to learn something different, and it was great to all the positivity and build relationships with staff and students,” he said.

Uhde said that the staff and students are what he likes most about Bettendorf, and they make his day go by fast and enjoyable.

The only thing Uhde would change about Bettendorf is that he wishes students would take advantage of all opportunities presented at the high school.

“Bettendorf gives great opportunities for students to learn, and it’s great to see students mature and see where they’re going to go. I want to help students see that they have a bright future, and there’s lots of green grass ahead of them,” he said.
