New reporter, Tahera Rahman, gave her first on-air broadcast for WHBF-TV on Feb. 8, but it’s also the day she made history.
Rahman is the first known Muslim-American reporter to wear a hijab on the air. She had worked at the station for two years as a producer, but it wasn’t until this year when she got in front of the camera.
Rahman is now a nation-wide role model for women everywhere showing that anyone can do anything. She has been on the TODAY Show, interviewed by the New York Times, Yahoo News, and more.
Rahman has received lots of praise and hate. There have been many hateful messages and threats towards due to her wearing a hijab on air, but according to TODAY, that won’t be stopping her.
