Suspect in custody after reports of shots fired at Los Angeles County high school

One suspect is in custody following reports of a shots fired incident at Highland High School in Palmdale, California.

Authorities first received reports of the incident at 7:05 a.m. PT (9:05 a.m. CT), according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) on Twitter.

At 7:30 a.m., there were also reports of a shot fired incident at nearby Manzanita Elementary School.

At 8:35 a.m. PT, LASD said that deputies also searched the campus of the elementary school.

School officials have asked people to remain clear of the high school campus while officials continue investigating the incident.

Information regarding injuries were not immediately available.
