Athlete Spotlight: Jack Hester

A winning football team has seemed to be a tradition at Bettendorf for many years. To maintain an accomplished program, such as Bettendorf’s, an abundance of athletes are needed.

Jack Hester is nothing short of an athlete. At 6’4,” the junior plays football and basketball. Currently, Hester lines up at wide receiver for an undefeated Bulldog team.

Despite playing behind two of Bettendorf’s senior receivers, Brandon Tillman and Darien Porter, Hester has managed to get snaps and even catch a pass.

Hester said, “Running out on the field and representing Bettendorf, that’s pretty special.”

Hester has not only made an impact on the football field, as his main addition to the team has been his positive attitude and commitment to making others better.

"Jack has the next man up mentality. He is always ready to get the reps during practice and fill in at any moment. He is just waiting for his opportunity," said teammate Anthony Medina.

Maintaining his commitment to the team, Hester said his favorite part of football, “it’s a team sport where everyone has to come together to win.”

Even when football isn’t in season, Hester still works out.

"Regardless of what he is working on, Jack always dedicates time for football. Last year, he came in at 6:30 on Saturdays to get his football lift in before going to basketball practice,” said football teammate Cole Buhman.

Being only a junior, Jack Hester has a bright future in Bettendorf athletics.
