Bettendorf gets back in the win column

On Friday, Sept. 21, the Bulldogs beat the Cedar Rapids Washington Warriors in Bettendorf’s homecoming game at Touvelle Stadium.

The game started in Bettendorf’s favor with a 52-yard pass from Carter Bell to Brandon Tillman to score the first points of the game.

Before the first quarter was over the Bulldogs scored again, coming from a 13-yard run from Carter Bell.

The Bulldogs scored three times in the second quarter and refused to let the Warriors on the scoreboard.

Two of those three touchdowns came from Austin Kalar rushing touchdowns of 2 and 12 yards. The other score, a 17-yard pass from Carter Bell to Darien Porter.

Keegan Schmidt connected on all five of his extra points, bringing the halftime score to 35 to 0, favoring the Bulldogs.

“Schmidt is leading all of Iowa football in touchbacks this year. We are blessed to have a kicker of his caliber on the team,” teammate Cole Buhman said.

There was no scoring in the second half, as the Bulldogs pulled most of their starters and gave everyone a chance to play.

The Bulldogs rolled their way to victory on a special homecoming night.
