Get to know: Sophia Pike


Sophia Pike, a senior, strives for greatness in both the classroom and in her extracurriculars.

A student who is well versed in the arts, Pike has performed in many school productions, her favorite being Sound of Music, and more recently, she performed in Moon Over Buffalo.

Due to her excellence in the drama department, Pike was named a state Thespian officer for this upcoming year.

Along with enjoying the drama program, Pike is involved in band, orchestra, and Best Buddies .

 

What activities do you participate in?

“I am in marching band, show choir, jazz band, band, choir, orchestra, theater, Best Buddies, and I’m a state Thespian officer.”

What are you most excited for this year?

“I’m excited to finish out high school making memories with amazing friends.”

What is your favorite memory as a Bulldog?

“My favorite memory was representing our school in the All-State choir while being surrounded by amazing vocalists.”

What is your best advice for incoming or potential theater students?

“Don’t be afraid to reach out to people and ask about how you can get your foot in the door of the theater department. We always need people for various jobs with different skills.”

Do you have any pre-performance rituals?

“Usually I hang out with friends while getting my hair and makeup ready. We’re always belting out tunes or cracking jokes while looking ridiculous.”

When you're not practicing, what is your favorite thing to do?

“I enjoy reading, listening to music that I’m not working on, or watching something.”

What was the biggest fad you ever participated in as a kid?

“I was really into High School Musical and Silly Bandz as a kid.”

What’s your best idea for a musical?

“Maybe making a Holocaust survivor’s story into a musical.”

If you could perform in any musical or play, which one would it be and who would you be cast as?

“I would be in South Pacific as Nellie, that was my first community theater show, and it just holds a dear place in my heart.”

What your favorite dog breed?

"My favorite breed is Vizslas.”

In an ideal world, what do you hope to be doing after high school?

“In a practical world, I’d be teaching music somewhere; in a fantastical world, I’d be performing around the world.”
