Student Council elections held Wednesday

Student Council elections were held on Thursday, Feb. 4, after candidates from the freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes presented their speeches.

Every class except for the seniors were divided into separate areas of the school to listen to the speeches so that students could decide who would represent their class next year on student council.

Freshmen listened to the speeches in the gym, sophomores went to the old auditorium for the speeches, and junior speeches were given in the Performing Arts Center. Although the student body votes to choose four representatives, the other five representatives are chosen by an interview with the advisors of student council.

The president candidates for each class run independently from the representatives in a separate race. This year new candidates have stepped up to run against the incumbent members who hope to maintain their positions. The results of the race will be posted right after school on Friday, April 5, outside of Katie Mahoney’s room.
