Prom to be unaffected by flood waters

On Tuesday, April 30, a flood warning was put in effect for Davenport, Iowa after a HESCO flood barrier broke. Flash flooding occurred in a matter of seconds, but is not expected to increase dramatically in the coming days despite the rain.

On Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued an alert that a flash flood emergency was in effect. Rescuers were dispatched to buildings and cars to rescue stranded citizens from the flood waters.

The flooding captured the attention of several national news outlets including CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. According to administration, there are expected to be no delays or cancellation of Prom, even though the venue is close to the flooded area. Parking may be a challenge at the dance because of the extensive flooding around the River Center.

Modern Woodmen Park completely surrounded by the flood waters.
