The Student Council representatives decorated trailers to their grades’ assigned theme on Sept. 29. Each grade had between eight-12 people per grade helping paint, cut cardboard cutouts and hang streamers.
Trailers were decorated for the homecoming parade on Oct. 3 when members of their grade will ride on the trailers through the streets of Bettendorf. After the parade, the Bettendorf Athletics Boosters president, Jen Cavins, will judge the winner.
The themes of the trailers are picked by the student council representatives and are associated with the overarching homecoming dance theme.
“My grade’s theme is ‘70s because on Thursday the apparel theme is Decade Day and we are ‘70s,” sophomore Macie Zimmerman said.
For Zimmerman, the best part of decorating the floats was shopping with her class to purchase decorations during the week prior. This is the second year that Zimmerman has participated, but she thought the heavy rain made this year more exciting.
