Lydia Bloome takes home two awards for artwork at Festival of Trees

Junior Lydia Bloome was awarded Best of Show and first place at the Festival of Trees Nov. 23 for her artwork.

Bloome worked on her pieces in AP Studio Art taught by Tim Solbrig as a part of building her portfolio. Each piece required a week of class time and out of school time to complete.

Her self portrait was done with white and black charcoal on grey paper, placing best of show. Bloome’s piece of her younger brother, Tommy, won first place in the painting division.

Since her concentration was on eyes, his pose was ideal for what she was working on.

Bloome’s favorite part of going to the Festival of Trees was spending time with her family and getting to show them her finished work.

“My parents have been very supportive through this whole process; I could tell they were proud of all the work I’ve put into this,” Bloome said.
