World Food Prize director to speak on Friday

The director of global education programs for the World Food Prize, Kelsey Tyrrell, will speak about the organization on Friday, Dec. 6, during PRIDE in Spencer Mesick’s classroom. Tyrrell directs the Iowa Youth Institute which attracts Iowa high school students to a day-long program at Iowa State University emphasizing STEM topics and agricultural science to fight hunger world-wide.

The Iowa Youth Institute allows students to write papers about combating global hunger and poverty. Students who participate can receive a $500 scholarship and possible internships if they elect to major in related fields.
