Surviving Snowball

Snowball, Bettendorf’s winter dance, is being held Jan 11, 2020. Since last year’s dance was canceled due to weather, the theme of “The Polar Express” will be used again.

“Student Council worked really hard to put the decorations together last year, so I’m excited people will finally be able to see them,” Sophomore Macie Zimmerman said.

The committee putting the dance together is made of Student Council members Parker Beck, Lauren O’Brien, Olivia Wiley, Annika Braaten and Sophie Utsinger. The group meets once a week to work on planning the dance.

While students are planning their dance day, it may be hard to think of indoor, scenic places around the community for pictures.

“I have been to Snowball twice and I’ve taken pictures at the Radisson Hotel both times. I liked it because of how pretty the lobby is and the workers were understanding about using it,” Junior Shannon Evans said.

The Radisson is located on E. 2nd Street in Davenport.

“I went to The J Bar for pictures and it was nice because we could stay in one location for pictures and dinner,” Zimmerman said.

The J Bar is located on Elmore Avenue in Davenport.

Snowball is BHS’s least attended dance every year and the Kickoff dance in the fall is the most attended.

“I think the main reasons people don’t want to come to Snowball is because we can’t bring people from other schools and it’s always so cold,” Zimmerman said.

Ahriyana Creighton asks her boyfriend, Jackson Mendez, to Snowball with a Star Wars themed poster.
