Charles Bunn won four state titles at the state meet on Feb. 15 in Iowa City. Bunn has a total of nine state titles in his high school career, with four coming from last year and four this year. Bunn has the second most state titles in Bettendorf swimming history behind Ian Renner-Arjes, who has 10.
At the 2019-2020 state meet. Bunn won the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay. He broke the state record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.18 seconds.
“It feels amazing to go four for four because not many people can say they have won every event in the past two years. To finish the season the way I did is the perfect way to end my high school swimming career and take it to the next level in college. My favorite memory was finishing first and second with Sam Mitvalsky because we’ve been friends forever, and we’ve been swimming a lot of time with each other and to accomplish something like that with him is special,” Bunn said.
Bunn will be continuing his academic and swimming career at the University of Missouri next year.
