Molly Giese is a new addition to the Special Education program this year. At first, she was a general education teacher in Social Studies for 14 years. She taught classes such as Political Science, AP courses, European History, etc. Giese wanted to try something different and Special Education seemed like a meaningful switch.
Before teaching, she held multiple jobs just to support her college expenses.
Giese started her career at Central Community Schools in Dewitt, Iowa. Bettendorf is the second district she has worked in.
She started subbing in the district last January, and she really enjoyed the experience. Giese then started working at Hoover Elementary as a para last spring. When a position opened at the high school for Strategist I, she applied and got the position.
“I am proud to be here,” said Giese.
She is excited to get to know all the new people she is working with as well as doing all she can to support the classes and students she works with daily. Giese admires the academic climate at Bettendorf.
She has two young sons and a cat named Captain.
