Girls track takes fourth place at first meet

The girls track team placed fourth at their meet at St. Ambrose on Wednesday, March 4th.

Freshman Hattie Aanestad placed third in the 400 meter race.

“For my first high school meet, I am very pleased with my place and time, though I hope to improve my time by the end of the season,” Aanestad said.

Sophomore Hannah Beintema took first place in the 1600 meter race.

“In order to prepare, I went hard in practice and made sure to run on the weekends. I think my hard work really paid off, but I still hope to improve,” Beintema said.

Senior Breanna Vermeer along with junior Sophie Utsinger and sophomores Sarah DeFauw and Amanda Scott placed second in the 4x400 meter race.

“I am very proud of us and how our overall team did,” Amanda Scott said. “We’ve been training a lot and working on our race strategies, so we hope to improve for the next race.”
