Despite changes, cast of fall play excited to be back

As the year continues to change, the theater department faces new challenges that will affect the way their year looks as a whole, impacting the fall play. Although these differences make this production unlike any other BHS show, since it will be performed online, the cast is excited to perform again.

“I’m really looking forward to being in a production again, even if it won’t be necessarily the same as past years. I’ve really missed my on stage family,” Hannah Wilson said.

Many cast members have been in past BHS productions. A few of the seniors are disappointed about the changes; however, Aiden Doe said he is hoping that practices start to feel like a normal routine.

Last spring, the musical was cancelled due to COVID. Many seniors from the class of 2020 were unable to perform their last show which they had been looking forward to. Havyn Fish, the lead in “Shrek The Musical,” expressed how she is excited to perform again.

Practicing is another aspect that has changed. Prior to the pandemic, the cast could get together every week night and rehearse their show. Because of safety concerns, the rehearsals are not able to be in person each night.

“We are having one in-person rehearsal and one online rehearsal each week,” Laurel Wade said.

Although so many aspects of drama have changed, the cast is looking forward to being able to entertain others again.

“I think it will be super cool to be a part of the first virtual performance at BHS. It is going to be more like a movie than a play, and I think that’s dope,” Wilson said.
