Bettendorf ramps up for Fill-the-Truck

While all students and community members want Bettendorf to win on the field tonight, off the field another competition is taking place: the fight to end hunger in our community. Locally, one in eight students receive three meals a day, and food insecurity ranks among the top issues in the Quad Cities.
That’s why Bettendorf and PV have decided to raise non-perishable food and monetary donations for the Riverbend Foodbank. Every year, Lindquist Ford donates two trucks for the night, and the goal of the night is to fill the truck.
“It’s a great way to engage with our community,” said Zach Johnson at Lindquist Ford.
Lindquist Ford has cooperated with student council for the last several years to create an event that raises donations for the student hunger drive.
Another event taking place is “Minute to Win It,” where students have one minute to to acquire monetary donations for the hunger drive.
“I’m lowkey excited to see people run up and down the bleachers for minute to win it,” said Julisia Vallejo, sophomore student council member.
Additionally, all donations brought tonight will be rewarded with a spin on the prize wheel. Potential prizes include candy, cosmic brownies, and t-shirts from previous years.
“We’re very excited to see the turnout tonight, and I’m really hoping for the best. I think we can do a whole lot of good if this goes well,” said Ahlivya Hill, chair of StuCo’s Fill-the-Truck committee.
