With the COVID-19 pandemic looming over this year's swim season, the boys’ varsity swim team continues to push through and continue their season.
This year's swim season has looked different than any other year due to new guidelines. Swimmers must now wear a mask outside of the pool at all times and continue social distancing. Also, everyone on the swim team is making sure to stay cautious around others to avoid exposure, so they can ensure a full season.
Even though it was a relief to be able to swim this school year, the swimmers' experiences this year have looked different compared to past seasons.
“I wish we were able to have more team bonding activities,” said freshman Elias Lightfoot.
Due to everyone trying their best to social distance, it has made it harder for the team to do more team bonding activities outside of practice. Also, it has made it harder for the swim team to cheer each other on at meets. Along with these issues, the team also had to limit the amount of people at meets, due to regulations.
Although a lot of changes have been made this year, the district and state meets have not been put on hold.
On Saturday, Feb. 6, the varsity team will be headed to their district meet.
“I’m looking forward to finishing the season and waiting for next season with my friends,” junior Finley Bagby said.

Victoria is a sophomore.
